A PICture Paints a Thousand Words
When I start with a new client, I sometimes give them a stack of design magazines, and ask them to tag the pages they find appealing. When I review the tags with the client, I pick out common items that occur in each picture and use that information to help guide their selections for the project. For example, if every kitchen pictured has a hardwood floor, but the client requested tile for the kitchen floor, obviously that is a choice that begs reflection. I suggest that you tag your own magazines, and before pitching into the recycle bin, tear out the tagged pages and start a folder. After you accumulate a few, take some time to look for your common ingredients! You may be surprised at what your “pics” help you discover. click on image to enlarge
